Fill

Trim height is measured from the bottom of the base to the top of the fill and can range from .150" to 1.00" or higher. Color, trim height and material type are among the many choices you have in selecting the right fill.

Colors include black, white, gray, brown, beige, gold, and burgundy. Black or clear are standard choices for monofilament.

We specialize in revolutionary use of various synthetic fill materials. Your choice of fill material will almost certainly depend on your unique application. Our years of expertise with synthetics will help you make the right choice.

The information below will help guide you through your options.

Synthetic Materials
Material Size Application
Coated Acrylic: .0015" to .003" diameter Static dissipation
(for use in UltraStat™ products only)
Polypropylene: .0055" to .060" diameter Resistance to acids and alkalis
Nylon: .006" to .085" diameter Scrubbing and cleaning applications; resistance to acids and alkalis

Base

The foundation of the brush is the base or backing. In order for the brush to be effective, the fill and backing must be carefully matched. There are almost no limitations to the backing shape and therefore the design possibilities are nearly endless.

The most common base shapes include square and flat, but Ultrafab is more than happy to work with you to match your unique requirements.

Available Specifications
Width: .115" to 2.43"
Thickness: .030" to .230"

Adhesives

Ultrafab offers both double sided foam and pressure sensitive adhesives in a variety of widths. The technical information listed below is as published by the manufacturers of the adhesive. Other custom adhesives are also available upon request.

Foam Adhesive
Cross-linked, closed-cell polyolefin foam coated with an aggressive rubber-based or acrylic-based pressure sensitive adhesive on both sides. This type of adhesive is flexible, conformable and preferred for joining rough or irregular surfaces.

Foam Adhesive
Color: White
Shelf Life: One to two years if stored at room temperature (72° F) and 50% relative humidity.
Thickness: 1/32", 1/16", 1/8", 3/16", 1/4" (custom thicknesses available).
Width: Various, including custom sizes.

Pressure Sensitive Adhesive
Double sided acrylic adhesive tape for application to surfaces such as wood, fabric, plastic, rubber, metal, and textured materials. Proven in applications bonding to Polypropylene, EPDM, Polystyrene, PVC, Polyurethane, etc. Bond strength increases with time and can also be improved with firm application pressure and moderate heat.

Pressure Sensitive Adhesive
Heat Resistance: Up to 150° F long term (days, weeks); up to 250° F short term (minutes, hours).
Water Resistance: No adverse effect.
Shelf Life: Two years if stored at room temperature (72° F) and 50% relative humidity.
Humidity Resistance: High humidity has no adverse effect and can actually increase bond strength.
Thickness: 5.0/6.3 mils (not including liner).
Width: Various, including custom sizes.

Shape

Shape variation is more easily achievable with Ultrafab's flexible backing and Surface Mount Technology. Our bending and wrapping capability is limited only by your imagination; you no longer need to confine your design process to standard methods of brush manufacturing. Ultrafab products are fabricated using a continuous process, thus allowing more design freedom for wrapping around mandrels, or radii as small as .125”. Using our technology, you can decide which shape fits your unique application the best.
